LAURENCE JAMES POOTS

Laurence joined the Hong Kong Police Force in 1976.  He served the Force for 21 years in criminal investigation postings at the Police Headquarters and throughout the Territory, attaining the rank of Senior Superintendent.  Laurence commanded several crime teams including the Organised Crime and Triad Bureau and the Intelligence Division of the Commercial Crime Bureau.  He led numerous investigations into many of Hong Kong’s most notorious cases of murders, kidnappings and armed robberies.

In 1997, Laurence left the Police Force to embark on a career as a barrister.  He acts on behalf of both the prosecution and the defence in a wide range of criminal cases, including murder, money laundering, commercial fraud and drug trafficking.   He has also conducted criminal defence cases in Singapore, where he is admitted to practice law.
