On 7 November 2024, Plowman Chambers hosted a visiting group of students and faculty members from the Economic and Trade Law School of the Shandong University of Political Science and Law, where members Catherine K.K. Wong and Tony Ko are adjunct professors. As part of the exchange and sharing session, members of Chambers Maggie Wong SC, Alan M.S. Ng, and Catherine K.K. Wong shared speeches on the similarities and differences between the legal systems in Hong Kong and in Mainland China.
Chambers is grateful to Liu Min Min, Deputy Dean of the Economic and Trade Law School, as well as Wang Long, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Youth League of China General Branch, for their assistance in organizing this event. Chambers has long strived to foster mutual exchange and connection between Hong Kong and Mainland China’s legal industries and has, in the past, similarly hosted visiting groups of Mainland Chinese judges, legal professionals, and academics.
Chambers is also grateful to members of the Young Barristers Committee who attended the sharing session, including Ian Chu and Christy Chak who shared their experiences as young barristers with the attendees.
The sharing session was held in the main conference room in Chambers’ newly renovated premises on the 44th floor of Tower One, Lippo Centre. With a suite of three new conference rooms and state-of-the-art video conferencing and e-hearing facilities, Chambers looks forward to hosting additional large-scale events in future.
